OPENING THE DOOR TO POETRY: THE ARCHITECTURE OF POETRY

RIVERSIDE, CA - The Gluck Fellows Program of the Arts, in conjunction with the Riverside Public Library, presents OPENING THE DOOR TO POETRY: THE ARCHITECTURE OF POETRY on December 4, 2004, Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Riverside Public Library in downtown Riverside.  Ever wondered how the various elements of poetry are constructed?  This free workshop led by Gluck Undergraduate Creative Writing Fellows Janine Joseph and Lucille Legaspi will discuss the components of poetry as they relate to the architecture of Japanese homes.  Participants will use a variety of exercises to learn how to build their own poems.  Writers of all levels are invited to participate in this two-hour workshop.

This workshop is free and open to the public.  This event is sponsored by the Gluck Fellows Program of the Arts at UC Riverside.  The Gluck Fellows Program of the Arts is made possible through the generosity of the Maxwell H. Gluck Foundation.  Additional support is provided by the Riverside Public Library and the Friends of the Library.

Janine Joseph is pursuing her Bachelors degree in Creative Writing, with a minor in English at the University of California , Riverside .  She is also the poetry editor for UC Riverside's art and literary journal, Mosaic.

Lucille Legaspi is a senior pursuing a double major in Creative Writing and Religious Studies at the University of California , Riverside .  She is the Editor-In-Chief for UC Riverside's art and literary journal, Mosaic.
