Where can
I find out about extramural funding for research opportunities?
CHASS Funding Newsletter
Once per month, CHASS faculty will receive the CHASS Funding
Newsletter. The newsletter contains important news about:
- Extramural funding on campus
- News highlights from federal, state, foundation, and private
sponsors
- Acknowledgement of new awards to faculty
- Upcoming funding opportunities (deadlines usually 2 months
from publication)
Funding opportunities for faculty are filtered into each
newsletter based on individual’s research interest areas.
Only those announcements which match a faculty member’s
keywords appear in his/her newsletter. To view or modify your
keywords, visit http://www.ora.ucr.edu/ORA/Newsletters/UserSignup.asp
and enter your UCR email address (firstname.lastname@ucr.edu).
You can view previous issues of the newsletter by visiting
the newsletter archive at www.newsletterarchive.com.
The CHASS Funding Newsletter is a joint collaboration between
the CHASS Dean’s Office and the Office of Research Affairs
(ORA). Questions regarding the newsletter can be directed
to MaryAnn Beaman,
CHASS Coordinator of Extramural Funding.
Funding Search Engines
ORA
Database - Funding opportunities appearing in the CHASS
Funding Newsletter are housed in a searchable database maintained
by ORA. Faculty can search by keyword
criteria, recently
posted announcements, and upcoming
deadlines.
SPIN
by InfoEd International is a subscription-based service
provided to the campus community by ORA. SPIN allows users
to filter searches based on multiple search criteria and key
words. Users can save searches and have results emailed to
their campus email address on a regular basis. Because the
service is limited to UCR faculty, researchers, and staff,
it is only available through UCR computers accessing the Internet
via the campus’s IP address.
IRIS:
Illinois Research Information Service is maintained by
the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Deadlines
for upcoming opportunities are arranged by academic level
and discipline. Users can also search the entire IRIS
database specifying keyword criteria and have search results
emailed to their UCR email account. Like SPIN, this service
is only available via computers accessing the Internet via
the campus’s IP address.
