What should I do when I'm called for jury duty?

Faculty are not exempt from jury duty but can request postponement until summer. (Ask the court clerk how to make this request. You may want to supply a letter from your department chair describing how your absence would affect the department.) If your request for postponement is denied, inform your department chair. A colleague might offer to cover your absence, or you might want to reschedule class to evening hours if students can attend. The University provides full pay while on jury duty.
