What do I do if there is an emergency on-campus including classroom emergency, fire, earthquake, etc?

Emergencies fortunately don’t happen often, but it is essential to be prepared. Familiarize yourself with your Departmental Emergency Operations Plan (DEOP) and be able to identify your Building Supervisor for Emergency Conditions (BSEC). Make sure you know at least two safe paths to exit your building, your department’s emergency assembly area, emergency equipment locations (such as fire alarms, fire extinguishers, emergency showers/eyewashes, etc.), and any special hazards to avoid during an emergency. The Campus Emergency Response Plan (ERP) is designed to provide basic guidelines and operational procedures for campus personnel during emergency situations. While it has not been developed to cover every conceivable situation, the plan provides the basic administrative structure and procedures necessary to cope with credible emergencies. Handling of emergency operations on the Riverside Campus will be conducted within the framework of this document, and any variations to these procedures will be implemented only by or with the approval of the Campus Emergency Response Committee.
