Ann Kaneko, a Los Angeles-based filmmaker and artist, received a Fulbright Fellowship to make Against the Grain: An Artist's Survival Guide to Peru. The documentary asks if freedom of expression is a right or a privilege. The film highlights the passion and commitment of pioneering artists who resist censorship during the repressive regime of Alberto Fujimori.
